Tag Me lets loved ones track your whereabouts in case of emergency

A new service that will you notify your family or friends know where you are in case you ever run into trouble has been launched on the ttrumpet over-the-top (OTT) service.

Tag Me allows you to pin point your journey on ttrumpet so it’ll appear on a  map in real time on your loved one’s smartphone. A person can only track you if you add them to your Tag Me list.

“South African’s are very active and enjoy the outdoors and spending time with family and friends however, safety is always a key concern,” said Grant Theis, co-founder of ttrumpet. “We understand this and have therefore embarked on developing a safety outreach feature, offering consumers a means to use their mobile device for peace of mind.”

If you go off your route or are in distress, an alert will be sent those who are keeping track of you.

If you’re out on a run or cycling, Tag Me leaves ‘bread crumb trail’ via blue dot navigation and shows which route you’ve taken – updating tracking sessions every 10 seconds – shows total distance and time covered, and indicates lost connectivity or stops longer than 10 minutes.

Tag Me is also useful for parents who want to know the whereabouts of their children and whether they’re safe or not.

An update to the service will allow parents to added ‘fences’ around their children’s most common locations such as school, notifying them that their child has left or arrived safely. Should a child go beyond a fence, Tag Me will notify their parent.

“The ttrumpet roadmap over the coming months is packed with unique and innovative offerings within the home and safety environments, for now, enjoy the comfort of knowing that a safer community is at the touch of a button,” said Theis.

You can download the ttrumpet app from Google Play or iTunes.
