[WATCH] See the ocean from a shark’s perspective

When sharks crop up in the news, they usually get a raw deal. Either they’ve eaten their way through undersea cables or dismembered someone on a surfboard and footage of them is usually accompanied by the theme from Jaws. But what is the day-to-day life of a shark actually like?

Well, thanks to intrepid frogman Andy Casagrande we now have some idea what it’s like to mosey around the ocean floor if you’re a hammerhead shark. In the video below Casagrande plunges into the sea, hooks a GoPro camera around the dorsal fin of a hammerhead shark and then switches feeds so viewers can get a shark’s-eye-view of the ocean.

It’s pretty impressive stuff, really – not least because the diver had to approach a shark and tag it in the first place. That takes quite a bit of courage.

And speaking of courage, it’s also worth keeping an eye out for the tiny fish attached to the shark’s head, who seems to be hitching a ride. We had no idea that sharks were essentially Uber cabs for smaller fish…
