ICT Achievers Awards revived to celebrate country’s best

The ICT Achievers Award has been revived by the South African Communications Forum (SACF) after being discontinued in 2008.

These Awards are unique in South Africa, and Deputy Minister of Telecommunications & Postal Services Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize stressed the importance of ICT in the country during a media briefing.

“Not only does ICT inject a much-needed R95 billion into the local economy annually, the fact that the sector is a very visible one means it has the capacity to change perceptions and to advance South Africa’s transformation goals,” he said.

Members of the public as well as ICT and broadcast industry players can nominate individuals within the categories of:

  • Entrepreneurship and SMME
  • Community Development
  • Local Content Production
  • Innovation
  • Future Leader
  • Women in ICT
  • Honorary Lifetime Achievers Award
  • Innovation for Africa Award

The appointed judges, who has not yet been finalised, will be looking to measure the contribution, benefit and positive impact on society and identified societies that the nominee has made; Challenges faced and how these challenges were overcome; and the nominee’s length of service in the ICT sector.

The awards ceremony will be taking place on 2 October at the Vodacom World Dome, and if you would like to nominate someone, send a mail to nominations@ictachieversawards.org.za
