Between a space program, an electric car empire and a few billion dollars, we’re still undecided if Elon Musk is going to become the world’s first supervillain or superhero. We’ll just have to wait for an industrial lab accident to decide for us.
In the meantime, Tesla Motors put out a YouTube video showing off a charger prototype for its electric cars.
Dubbed “Snakebot”, the machine will find its way to the car’s charging port and begin to fill up the batteries automatically.
The reason Snakebot was brought into robo-existence was to mitigate some of the hassles of owning a Tesla. The idea is that you can park your expensive roadster next to Snakebot at the end of a long day and it will take care of charging for you.
Sounds great, right? Well it is, until you see the video:
How can we put this gently? The Snakebot is more than a little, erm, sexual in the way it goes about “seeking out the charging port”.
Even Mr. Musk took to Twitter to comment on it:
Tesla Snakebot autocharger prototype. Does seem kinda wrong :) https://t.co/vXpCrKNdlV

The internet has already been busy with all manner of Tesla tomfoolery, as it does with anything even remotely resembling coitus, but our absolute favourite is another YouTube video from user “mcc 5159“. Make sure you have the volume on for this one:
