The Break.Make.Create. hackathon is back this September

Hackathons have all manner of themes, and we think they need one to unify the chaos and panic that swirls around them.

We recently covered the UN Women Hackathon that focused on gender equality and rights, and now Break.Make.Create. is hosting one based around the concept of the 9-5 lifestyle.

Organisers Hellocomputer, the digital marketing agency whose 9-5 work is blending engineering and art (and were behind Joburg’s Tweeting badger) wants entrants to hack anything to do with the ol’ eight hours. They recommend printers, desks and colleagues to get you going.

Along with the maker-cred of winning the large event, first place will take home R10 000 and second will score R5 000.

The last time we were at Break.Make.Create. we showed off some music/tech mashups. Luckily, this year the event is in Johannesburg, so we won’t have to fly down to Cape Town.

The details:

Date: 4th & 5th September 2015.

Time: 4th September – from 12:00. 5th September – from 09:00 (Schedule)

Place: Wits University Digital Innovation Zone
111 Smit Street, Braamfontein (Map)

Judges: Tegan Bristow, Jonathan Deeb, Craig Wilson, more to be announced.
