Ashley Madison hackers release more data targeting CEO Noel Biderman

Over the last couple of days, dating/cheating website Ashley Madison has been attempting some damage control after hackers released 9.7GB of data of site users and financial transaction online.

In the wake of the data dump, Ashley Madison has invoked copyright law to stop the spread of the leak, offered free profile deletion to its client base (prior to the hack they had to pay for this  service) and even hinted that not all of the data is genuine – albeit through a tech consultant the company hired.

It seems that this last tactic irked the hackers responsible for the leak, Impact Team, because they’ve released a second, and far large cache of data online, this time targeting Ashley Madison’s CEO Noel Biderman, the site itself and the site’s parent company Avid Life Media (ALM).

The new data dump is a 20GB file that contains internal staff emails and the source code for Ashley Madison’s website and apps. The release was accompanied with a rather snide statement from Impact Team, which simply read: “Hey Noel, you can admit it’s real now.”

The newly released files also contained a folder entitled noel.biderman.mail, which suggest that Ashley Madison’s CEO’s emails are now floating out there in cyberspace, available for anyone to read.

Ashley Madison says it’s working with US authorities to bring those responsible for the breach to book. In the meantime, lawyers across the world are probably gearing up for the mother of all class action suits…
