Workshop17 offically launched as Cape Town’s newest innovation hub

Workshop17 has opened its doors to startup owners and the public as Cape Town’s newest innovation hub and co-working space.

Located at the V&A Waterfront in what used to be part of a warehouse, Workshop17 is situated on the upper level of the Watershed market. It already houses 130 tenants ranging from startups, established businesses and freelancers. The space is managed by co-working space operator, OPEN.

Tenants have access to WiFi, eight fully-equipped meeting, teaching and function rooms and areas where they can let their creative juices flow as they brainstorm new ideas for their products or services.

Non-tenants have free access to the public area where they can work on their mobiles and laptops or meet for a cup of coffee and lunch with friends or clients and business partners at the Workshop17 Café.

Tenant membership at Workshop17 starts at R500 while business membership starts at R1 500. You can apply to be a member on the hub’s website.

“Workshop17 was a seed of an idea six years ago when we recognised that we could use our resources to foster small business through an innovation hub,” said David Green, CEO of V&A Waterfront. “Today, the result is a working space with a clear vision that has a very different kind of potential that extends far beyond the walls of Workshop17. We look forward to seeing cutting-edge ideas, plans, developments and solutions that we are certain will come out of this revitalised space.”
