Donate your unused stuff to forgood and Uber will pick it up for free

If you have any items in you fancy donating to charity, online social startup forgood will gladly receive it and Uber is offering to pick it up from you for free.

The two companies have partnered to launch a one-day charity drive promo called #uberforgood just in time for spring cleaning season.

You can donate clothes, household items, appliances, electronics, non-perishable foods and car seats to those who need it most.

#uberforgood will run on Tuesday September 8th from 10am to 4pm in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria.

Different Uber vehicles have been earmarked for each city namely, UberVANs in Joburg and Pretoria, UberXLs in Cape Town and uberXs in Durban.

To donate on the day, you’ll have to open the Uber app from your mobile, select the ‘FORGOOD’ vehicle view at the bottom of the screen and the next available vehicle will be on its way to shortly.

There are a few key points to keep in mind though, you can read all about that on the Uber South Africa website.

Uber isn’t new to charitable acts, in March the company offered a free pick up service for food and refreshments donations for firefighters who were battling massive fires in Cape Town.
