Project Morpheus is now PlayStation VR

Remember Project Morpheus, the codename for Sony’s virtual reality headset? Well, it’s now been renamed PlayStation VR.

Sony made the announcement at its keynote presentation at the Tokyo Game Show.

And since there’s nothing like a tweet to make things super official:

Sony also told the TGS audience (and everyone watching via live stream) that several VR-ready games would be playable on the show’s floor. We’re very jealous right now, because this marks the first real public showing of Sony’s VR work, which is giving people a taste of what to expect ahead of competing VR headsets the Oculus Rift and Valve’s Vive.

No launch date was mentioned, sadly, but at least Sony didn’t mention a delay, which means it’ll still get here in 2016.

As what it will cost, however, is still anyone’s guess.
