[WATCH] New Steve Jobs trailer shows a lighter side of Steve

Steve Jobs, the biopic on Apple’s late CEO and founder, is still trundling towards its official release date in October, but a quick Google search will reveal everyone and their aunt seems to have seen it.

The film has been doing the rounds on the festival circuit and while a lot of critics have been complimentary in their appraisal, the consensus is that Steve Jobs as a movie doesn’t really paint a very flattering picture of Steve Jobs the man. Apple CEO Tim Cook even went as far as to brand it (and other Job biopics) as ‘opportunistic’ and ‘not a great part of our world’ on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Perhaps in answer to this, the latest trailer for the movie – which is directed by Danny Boyle (he of Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire fame) and penned by Aaron Sorkin (he of The West Wing and The Social Network fame) – dials back the acid a little. Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs still issues the odd stinging zinger in the new trailer, but overall it concentrates more on presenting the image of ‘Steve Jobs The Visionary’ rather than ‘Steve Jobs The Unrepentant Sod’.

The film is slated for release in the United States next month and we’ve heard talk of it being released in South Africa sometime in December. Who knows? We might even get to review it before then.

We live in hope…
