Scary horror game Allison Road hits Kickstarter and wants to raise R5.3m

Remember the Silent Hills playable teaser that the world got so excited about right before Konami went and cancelled it? Of course you do. While we sadly don’t have news of that project coming back to life, here’s something that looks very promising in a similar kind of way. The fan-made indie game Allison Road, described as an homage to the Silent Hills, is now on Kickstarter and it wants to scare the pants of you.

After nothing more than a teaser trailer for Allison Road sent survival horror fans into a flat spin the game appeared on Steam’s Greenlight service in June. Now, developer Lilith Ltd has launched a Kickstarter campaign that hopes to draw £250 000 (R5.3m) in funding from backers.

The developer hopes to bring back the psychological horror seen in older Silent Hill games and the playable trailer (PT) that Konami released last year. On the Kickstarter page the developers describe the inspiration behind the game,

We have fond memories playing games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill 2 and Dead Space. These days it seems that horror games are more about style over substance and little to no narrative whereas we are going to return to the roots of true psychological horror.

The game sees the player exploring a haunted house in the UK uncovering the secrets it holds all while an unknown, and frankly terrifying, creature observes you. You can watch a 13 minute video below but beware, after 10 minutes the atmosphere shifts from boring to skin crawling.

At time of writing Allison Road appears to be exclusively for PC but additional stretch goals point to a possible Linux, Mac, PS4 and XBOX One release. According to Lilith Ltd, Allison Road will also fully support the Oculus Rift VR headset.

A minimum pledge of £15 (R317) gives backers a digital copy of the Allison Road game once the game is released in 2016. The maximum pledge users can make is £5 000 (R105 723) which will give five generous donors the privilege of attending an exclusive launch event in the UK, this doesn’t include travel expense.

Allison Road has already raised £57 852 (R1 223 246) of the £250 000 goal. If you want to back this project the campaign closes in 29 days.
