More than 80 million photos are shared on Instagram daily

Every day, people share over 80 million photos on Instagram, the photo-sharing service has announced.

The Facebook-owned company also has reason to celebrate today as said it passed the 400 million active user mark recently, having added 100 million users since December last year.

According to Instagram, more than half of its new users came from Europe and Asia, while Brazil, Japan and Indonesia are some of the top countries which added the most new users. In case you’re wondering, people from outside the US happen to account for over 75% of Instagram’s user base.

The most popular of the newest sign-ups include retired soccer player David Beckham and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner.

“When Instagram launched nearly five years ago, 400 million seemed like a distant dream. Now, we continue to strive to improve Instagram — helping you experience the world through images and connect with others through shared passions,” the company said.
