Special Call of Duty: Black Ops III PlayStation 4 coming to SA

We’re not sure if this is good news or not, but we’ve confirmed with PlayStation’s SA representatives that the Limited Edition Call of Duty: Black Ops III PlayStation 4 bundle that was announced last night is coming to South Africa.

It’s a rather gaudy orange/black/grey affair with an accompanying controller that is similarly bedecked, but some people like that sort of thing so it likely won’t be much of a turnoff. Fortunately, it also packs a 1TB hard drive, bringing new meaning to the phrase “it’s what’s on the inside that counts”.

Maybe it’ll grow on you.

This particular bundle has quite a story, too, as it represents the end of the love affair between Call of Duty and Microsoft, and signifies a new, PlayStation-first era for the franchise. If you recall, back at E3 Sony announced that all COD BLOPS 3 DLC would come to the PlayStation 30 days before any other platform, plus the recent beta test happened first on Sony’s console.

And of course you don’t just get the garish console and a controller, you get the game as well, along with Nuketown, one of the game’s most popular maps, re-made/remastered/spit-polished for this generation of consoles.

In all, that’s a pretty good deal; unfortunately I can’t tell you how much the damn thing is going to cost, as according to my sources that has not been finalised yet. Thanks, rand.

All I can tell you is that it goes for $450 in the US, which converts directly to just less than R6 200 at today’s exchange rate. If I were a betting man, I’d suggest anticipating a local price closer to the other side of R8k.

The bundle will be in stores on the 6th of November, just in time for the game’s launch.
