New database created to give Africa’s women in tech better recognition

Women in Tech Africa, a pan-African network of female professionals that hosts regular meet-ups and events, made public its database of over 250 members recently.

The database contains the profiles of women in tech from around the African continent, and provides a platform for them to showcase their career portfolios and connect with other professionals in the industry.

The network said it launched the database to provide a solution to the need to get more women invited to speak at tech events across the continent.

“Women in Tech Africa is solving this problem: since we are the largest group of capable women in the technology industry, we are in a position to showcase capable women in the industry who might not necessarily be visible,” Women in Tech Africa said in a statement.

Each featured woman’s profile contains their job title, location, skill sets, LinkedIn and social media profile details.

The database was also released to give companies looking to hire or use the services of a tech professional, access to someone who may fit the criteria they’re looking for.

If you’re interested in having your profile added to the database, you can join Women in Tech Africa by signing up on its website.
