Very soon, you’ll be able to jazz up the way your Facebook profile looks on mobile by making Vine-like looping videos your profile picture, the company has announced.

Facebook posted a blog announcing this, along with a number of other significant additions to the way we personalise our profiles on the social network.

“People visit Facebook profiles more than four billion times per day… the world has changed since we first introduced profiles in 2004. On News Feed and profiles, we’re seeing people create and view more videos than ever before. Today we’re starting to test the next step in an obvious evolution of profiles: profile videos,” the company wrote.

Fortunately, you won’t be seeing a series of looping videos on people’s profiles on your News Feed, as the feature will only work when actually clicking through to someone’s timeline.

If swapping a still image for a video doesn’t sound like your thing, you may prefer to try out the other new option called “Temporary Profiles”. This allows you to set a temporary picture which will automatically be alternated with another one after a specific amount of days.

New look profile pages

Overall, profile pages have been given a bit of a makeover; your profile picture/video will be moved from the left-hand side and be placed in the centre of the screen and its size will be increased.

And just like on Twitter, you can put a bio in the form of sentence, describing a bit about yourself so new friends can get to know you better.

Just below that, new and existing friends will be able to see five photos from your uploads (you’ll be able to choose which ones) and a preview of the mutual friends you share.featured-photos_cy_finalLastly, you’ll be able to access and change who can view what on your profile via a setting located in the top right corner of your profile page.

All these are currently being tested on a select number of iPhone users in the US and UK, and will be coming to the rest of the world soon, Facebook said.
