rAge had a record-breaking 33 000 visitors

The annual rAge gaming expo is really the only chance that South African gamers have to come together on a massive scale to see some of the latest and best games on the market – and boy was it popular this year!

According to the company who organised it, rAge saw over 33 000 people stream into the TicketPro Dome in North Riding last weekend – which is the highest total of visitors the expo has ever had.

And the doors to #rAgeExpo2015 is officially open!

“This show is a fantastic spectacle and serves as a reminder to the whole industry why we work so hard all year,” said Michael James, senior project manager at rAge, in a media statement.

While visitors milled, pushed and shoved their way through the crowds of curious geeks and inquisitive gamers, the NAG LAN ran up some big numbers itself.

Over the course of 53 hours, 2 568 players gathered in a dedicated LAN area inside the Dome, and they managed to download 143TB of data and uploaded 46TB of data – bringing the total amount of traffic for the NAG LAN to 189TB.

Internet Solutions provided the 6.5Gbps connection, representing a 25% increase from 2014.

Htxt.africa spent most of the weekend at rAge, bringing you a whole bunch of articles, images and hands-on features from the event.
