The mid-range HTC Desire 626 lands in SA next month

While we anxiously await news of whether we’ll be getting One A9 in South Africa, HTC has satiated us with news of the release of the HTC Desire 626 on our shores in November.

An quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor operating at 1.2GHz, 16GB of internal storage capacity is pretty standard fare for mid-range smartphones these days and as such, one sits at the heart of the HTC Desire 626.

Standard issue continues at the camera though HTC claims the 13MP rear camera has been enhanced which we’re excited to see for ourselves. A 5MP camera for those selfies we can’t help ourselves taking is at the front and both cameras are able to record video footage at 1080p.

Moving onto the software side of things you will get the famous HTC Sense user interface and HTC Eye for quick photo editing. For those that prefer capturing moments with video you’ll be able to edit and share video easily using HTC Zoe.

Head of marketing for HTC in the Middle East and Africa, Neeraj Seth gave us greater insight into the smartphone saying, “Our new HTC Desire 626 is designed to give you the most customised personal user experience. Packed full of advanced features, we are delivering the very best in terms of personalised design and performance.”

Pricing is yet to be confirmed but according to US pricing we expect the HTC Desire 626 to retail in the region of R5 000 when it becomes available through MTN in November. We will of course update this article once exact pricing and date of availability has been confirmed.
