Huawei Mate S now on sale at Vodacom

The latest Huawei flagship smartphone goes on sale today at Vodacom stores nationwide.

We quite enjoyed the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and if you did as well you’ll be pleased to know that the upgraded version, the Mate S, will go on sale at Vodacom stores across South Africa today.

The Mate S boasts a slightly smaller 5.5-inch display compared to the 6-inch display of the Mate 7. The battery has also been shrunk down from 4 100 mAh in the Mate 7 to a 2 700 mAh battery in the Mate S.

Fingerprint 2.0 has been released with the Mate S allowing users familiar with the first iteration in the Mate 7 to continue unlocking their phones with one button. The technology can also be used to erase unread notifications, preview pictures, control the notification bar and can even be used to make calls.

New functionality has been added to Knuckle Control 2.0 which will allow users to double tap the display with their knuckle and record what ever is happening on the screen at the time. Similarly drawing a “C” on the display will open the camera app.

Speaking of the camera, the Huawei Mate S will boast an 8MP camera at the front equipped with an LED flash. At the back we see the return of the 13MP camera but this time it has optical image stabilisation and dual LED flash.

The Huawei Mate S is currently available on select Vodacom Red, Smart and uChoose packages.
