60% etoll discount on arrears kicks in tomorrow

Sunday morning is an odd time to send out a press release which should be big news for your customers, but Sanral has just issued a notice which says that the 60% discount offered to drivers who pay off their etoll arrears will kick in from tomorrow, 2nd November.

The discount was part of a series of measures introduced by deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa in May to get the freeway tolling scheme back on track. The new discount will last for six months only, and applies to dect accrued between 3rd December 2013 and 31st August 2015.

According to Sanral spokesperson Vusi Mona, the firm has set up a new website, www.less60.co.za, to help motorists calculate their bill. You can also phone 087 353 1490 or SMS your ID number to 43360.

As a basic rule of protecting your personal details, however, we at htxt.africa generally advise against sending sensitive information like an ID number via SMS.

Balances on historic accounts can be paid at FNB branches or ATMs, or via Sanral’s website or EFT.

So what do you think? Tempted to clear that debt before other measures like restrictions on renewing your car tax kick in? Let us know in the poll below.
