Streaming service ONTAPtv adds SA programs to on-demand library

The newest South African video on demand service, ONTAPtv has today revealed that with the help of Maxum Media Accelerator (MMA) and ReelAfrican more locally produced content will soon be available to viewers.

The good news is also that MMA is supported by the KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission and the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller which allows the MMA to assist startups in the film and television industry.

Head of consumer marketing at ONTAPtv, Kgositsile Poonyane spoke about the partnership in a statement saying, “MMA and ReelAfrican are among a number of studio partnerships that we have in the pipeline to bring additional original first class South African entertainment to watch anytime, anywhere.”

This support as well as backing from Urban Brew Studios and The Innovation Hub means that by 2016 we will be seeing a lot more local content on the streaming service, including dramas such as Frank Portrait and Second Chance.

In addition, ONTAPtv announced that it will soon be offering over 193 episodes of South African drama series such as Love Games, A Soweto Love Story and Unhinged: Surviving Johannesburg. African movies, gospel music videos and documentaries have also been made available thanks to ReelAfrican.

All of this additional content will be available through the African ONTAPtv subscription package which for R39 per month.
