Jordan Fung has a bright future ahead of him if his new invention, the Pedosa Glass, is anything to go by. The teenager from Hong Kong has created his very own smart glasses using some very common electronic components.

At the heart of the project is an Arduino Nano. The board is wired up to three buttons, an LED and a display commonly incorporated in first person view (FPV) headsets commonly used with drones.

The Pedosa Glass is running a custom operating system developed by Fung. This isn’t his first time as a programmer though, as has already developed six different apps that are available on mobile app stores.

Inside the software there are two apps: a flashlight (that uses the LED) and a timer app. Fung says that the Arduino’s timing is off and he’s looking to improve it with a separate module to handle the timings.

Also on the cards for improvement is a 3D printed case to house the electronics and wrap it up in a pretty package. At the moment the project is simply attached to (what appears to be) a regular pair of glasses. Bluetooth connectivity and more apps are also in the works.

And, in true maker spirit, the project is hosted on Instructables with full instructions so it can be replicated by anyone with the skill and resources to do so. To impress us further, Fung’s other projects include the likes of creating a web server from an Arduino and something a bit simpler in partitioning a hard drive.

We’ll have to keep our eyes on this kid to see what he comes up with next.
