Cell C is bringing LTE to the Western Cape

Cell C is now bringing LTE supports to the Western Cape after offering that service to consumers in Gauteng and KZN.

From December 1st the faster connection will be available for anyone on the network with a supported device and within the network coverage zone.

“I am exceptionally proud of the team for getting the Western Cape up and running so quickly,” Said Jose Dos Santos, Cell C CEO, “The first phase of 280 sites across the Western Cape is now complete and ready for customers to enjoy.”

As was the case with past launches, the company will be running a promotion on December 1st: the first 1000 customers at the Cell C Walk in Customer Care Centre in Tygervalley can pick up 100 GB of data, valid for 3 months, for R100. At only R1 per gig, that’s pretty good value.

For anyone using 3G, you’re not being left behind. The carrier hs promised that those on this type of connection will receive “a dramatic positive impact on the 3G quality and speeds”.

This launch is part of Cell C’s apparent R2 billion investment in its LTE network this year. They’ve also planned to invest another R6 billion over the next two years to get LTE in other provinces, as well as expanding coverage in Gauteng, KZN and the Western Cape. There are also plans for 1 600 fibre lines to bring a 100Gbps infrastructure to the Western Cape.
