Rainbow Six: Siege open beta delayed

In news that may be rather worrying to any hardcore shooter fans, Ubisoft has announced that it’s delaying the open beta for Rainbow Six: Siege, which was supposed to go live today.

The game’s developers made the announcement on the Ubisoft forums around an hour after the open beta was supposed to go live.

“We’re currently seeing issues with matchmaking times and disconnection on all platforms. As such we’re postponing the Open Beta until a later time and keeping the game under Closed Beta status,” community manager Jax posted.

“We apologize(sic) for the delay and can assure you this is our top priority. We will keep everyone updated regularly as we continue to deploy improvements.”

The news is likely to worry anyone looking forward to playing the game – especially those players who pre-ordered a copy – as Rainbow Six: Siege is due for release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One next week Tuesday on 1st December.

One hopes that the open beta delay isn’t a sign that Rainbow Six: Siege may be launched riddled with bugs and issues, much in the same way Assassin’s Creed: Unity was. This would be a real shame since all of the previews of the game that htxt.africa has had access to – along with the closed beta – indicate that the all the excitement ahead of its release is more than a little justified.
