MWEB to hook up more areas with fibre

Fibre to the Home connections seem to be rolling out at a faster pace than ADSL did a couple of years ago. But while we at htxt.africa patiently wait for FTTH connections to reach our homes, MWEB’s offering has rolled out to more areas – with a cap increase.

If you are on an MWEB FTTH package in a Vumatel area, you can look forward to the following changes being made to your connection from 1 January 2016 – all for the better:

MWEB

“We are partnering with both big and small FTTH installation companies around the country, to bring world-class fibre Internet into South African homes and we are continually working to ensure both our existing customers and new customers are able to get connected. We have homes connected with FTTH technology across the Western Cape, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Northern Cape,” said MWEB head of products Rihana Hoosain in a press statement.

The company also launched a partnership with Frogfoot and Fibrehoods to bring FTTH to areas like Constantia, Parkview, Craighall and Century City.

Hoosain said that as the general awareness about the availability of fibre grows in the South African market, the more people have been signing up for it, and MWEB has seen “a marked increase in the number of people converting to and interested in FTTH.”
