The concept of a 3D print, let a lone a plastic one, lifting a car is quite unbelievable. When we originally brought you the story we only had images to show for it, but now its creator has returned with a video showing off the feat.
In it he shows off just how easily the print can lift a car off its wheel. Heck, we’ve used jacks made of steel that are a lot less effective at their jobs.
This jack was 3D printed with ABS plastic granules and uses a threaded bar to create the scissoring action.
We got to have some hands-on time with the jack at the recent 3D Printing Meetup, and not even a video does Fouche’s invention justice. This print is far larger and denser than you’d be reasonably expected to think it is. But don’t take our word for it; the files required to print your own are freely available on Thingiverse for anyone to download.
