Elon Musk’s SpaceX will launch Falcon 9 tomorrow morning

SpaceX will break the six month stay on launches out of the atmosphere today when it launches the Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida into space before returning to Earth.

We last saw a SpaceX launch in June where the unmanned Falcon 9 rocket exploded moments after launch.

This time around SpaceX will use Falcon 9 to deploy 11 Orbcomm satellites before returning home to Earth and attempting to land. The launch was meant to take place yesterday afternoon but a tweet by SpaceX Chief Executive Officer, Elon Musk, revealed that the launch would be delayed for 24 hours.

A report on The Verge reveals that during a test fire of Falcon 9 on Friday last week, SpaceX was having problems keeping the propellant the rocket uses cool.

According to a statement issued by Orbcomm, delaying the launch by 24 hours will give the team more time to allow the propellant to cool as well as more time to analyse the data gathered during Friday’s test fire.

One of the key differences between this launch and previous SpaceX launches is the fact that Falcon 9 won’t be playing a game of galactic sized pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey by trying to land on a floating platform in the ocean.

Once its mission is complete, Falcon 9 will be returning to Cape Canaveral to land at SpaceX’s landing site, Launch Complex 1.

The launch is schedule for 8:33pm ET which is rather early 3:33AM tomorrow morning our time so watching the Falcon 9 launch live is only advised for those that don’t have to be up early for work tomorrow.
