South Africa gets another deals trader to rival Groupon

Groupon has become one of the world’s biggest group buying and deals websites, but it might just have some competition on its hands in South Africa.

Started by Yannick Bula, the newly-launched Bula Deals comprises of two platforms: Group Buying and Online Shopping.

The Online Shopping components is exactly what one would expect, but the Group Buying section “allows for bigger discount deals on various products purchased online.” It has to be pointed out that the two sections are actually morphed into one.

Bula explained that safety is a huge priority, as well as satisfaction. “We are excited to bring South African consumers a new online experience. With safety in online shopping, the best market prices, the latest products and friendly service at the core of our business structure, Bula Deals’ main priority is consumer satisfaction,” he said in a media release.

The website also caters to merchants and enterprises, in addition to individuals. In that business model, it offers advertising, online marketing and the promotion of goods and services for businesses wanting to reach a wider market.

“Companies can expect a wide range of services and goods that are specific to their needs. Merchants can expect best business practice, suited to their profit line.”

Right now, users can get Apple’s iPhone 6s 16GB in Rose Gold for R10 999, and Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge 32GB in Gold Platinum for R11 600 – among other tech deals.

The site offers products in a wide range of categories, and also offer experiences such as shark diving and a full-day safari in Cape Town.

As for Bula’s ultimate goal with the website, it is “to improve and streamline the overall image of online shopping in South Africa and on the African continent as well as to stimulate the growth of online shopping and group buying in all possible ways.”
