This past weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live had a special treat for Star Wars fans. The actor behind Kylo Ren, Adam Driver, was the celebrity guest and brought the Leader of the Knights of Ren into a new light.
In the sketch the premise of Undercover Boss is recreated on Starkiller Base. Undercover Boss is a reality show in which CEOs and other high-ranking execs disguise themselves as starting employees in their own company to see how it works on a grass roots level. Starkiller Base, without spoiling The Force Awakens, is the suspiciously Death Star-looking object on the official movie poster.
We can’t help but think Mr. Driver channelled more than a bit of the “Emo Kylo Ren” persona that the internet has created for him. Add that to the already great character of Ren, and a helping of Napoleon Dynamite cringe, and this may become the best SNL sketch that has aired in years.
