Samsung’s Galaxy S7 all but confirmed

If you know one thing about the mobile phone industry, you will know it is no secret that Samsung unveils its new phone at Mobile World Congress at the end of March every year – even if it wants to keep it a secret.

This is year is no different, as invitations to the Samsung Unpacked event have gone out to journalists and industry players, which is no doubt for the Galaxy S7.

The image on the invitation is in the form of a cube, with two sides illuminated to form (what looks like) the number 7 in blue.

The teaser trailer that went out also opens with someone using a VR head set to interact with the cube. We don’t know if it means anything, but the guy is also wearing a necklace with a small cube hanging from it.

Our guess is that the new flagship Galaxy S7 will be compatible with Samsung’s Gear VR, or that a new Gear VR will be purpose-built for the S7. Either that, or the S7 will come with a pair of VR goggles, but honestly that’s a stretch.

Either way, htxt.africa will be in Barcelona to bring you further news of Samsung’s doings, so keep an eye on our news feed from the 21st of February, MWC’s start date.

In the meantime, have a look at the (ultra-short) teaser trailer below.

Is the S7 something you would be interested in, or is smartphone fatigue setting in? As always, let us know.
