Donate your unused laptop to Code4CT and help get more girls coding

Code4CapeTown (Code4CT) needs your help in expanding the stellar work it does to introduce coding to girls.

To that end, it’s putting out a call for anyone with unused laptops in working condition to consider donating them to the programme.

Code4CT’s 18-month long programme teaches high school girls coding and web design skills that they can use to pursue studies and future careers in ICT.

Its next goal is to create a portable classroom which will help it to expand its reach to more girls and to achieve this, it needs a helping hand with providing laptops to be used in the classrooms.

The goal is to collect 100 by the end of May this year.

Donations can be dropped off at Jam Media at UB2 Garden Centre, Buitenkant Street, Gardens) or Code4CT’s office at Tannery Park, Belmont Road, Rondebosch).

If you’re not in the Cape Town area, you can courier it to Code4CT (they’re offering to cover the costs).

Code4CT’s IT partner, Apple Domination, will examine each laptop to make sure it’s perfect working order.

The programme is also in need of computer screens to use with Kano computers.

Cash donations are also very welcome.

If you would like to assist, fill out the donation form on the Code4CT website.

“If young women are equipped with tech and problem solving skills, they will be able to make a powerful contribution to the solutions that will define the future of our country and continent,” Code4CT’s community manager,” Andrea Petersen said in a statement.
