Winter is coming. Well, it’s a few months off yet, but Game Of Thrones Season 6 is scheduled to air on 24th April and naturally fans (including us) are very excited.

To be honest, we’ll use pretty much any excuse we can to write about Game Of Thrones – we already covered the new teaser today – so when we heard that a fan had created a Hearthstone deck based on the characters from George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novels we jumped at the chance to tell you about it.

While this may look like something of a PhotoShop novelty, the creator of this deck has put a fairly decent amount of thought into it. The different character cards have abilities and powers that tie in rather neatly with their personalities and in some instances major lore events they’ve been involved in. If you’ve followed either Game Of Thrones or read Martin’s books a couple of the descriptions on the cards will raise a knowing smile.

Our favourite? The fact that Joffrey Baratheon is a 1-Mana-Cost card with 1 Health and 1 Attack whose ability is a BattleCry that enrages any minions that are in play. Seems more than fitting.

If you’d like to have a look at the full list you can find them over on The Grumpy Fish website.

Incidentally, we’re also pretty big fans of Blizzard’s homage to Magic: The Gathering, and are eyeing up the coming changes to the game with interest.
