More than one million MTN customers experienced little to no connectivity yesterday afternoon because of a what the mobile network has called a “minor glitch”.
At 2:34pm, the mobile network operator tweeted to its Twitter followers that it was experiencing intermittent connection issues. MTN said that this only had an effect on some customers and its engineers were working to resolve the problem.
This work stretched long into the night according to MTN which says that its engineers worked through the night to resolve the problem. What was the problem you ask?
The “minor glitch” which MTN refers to was on the the nodes which carry traffic to and from MTN customers.
Despite MTN saying that its services are up and running again, a number of subscribers have tweeted the network to say that it isn’t.
@MTNza no it’s actually not.

According to the network, these problems are being sorted out as and when they arise. For anybody that still seems to be having a problem, get in touch with MTN so they can try to sort it out.
With many subscribers threatening to switch networks and many requesting compensation for the downtime, this really was the last thing MTN needed after a week of royalty rumbles and the ongoing MTN Nigeria saga.
