This ASUS 2-in-1 will weigh less than a bag of sugar

Taiwanese manufacturer, ASUS, has announced a new, ultra thin and unbelievably light 2-in1 notebook.

The ASUS Transformer Book T100HA is the follow up to the Transformer Book T100 2-in-1 and besides a strict diet, it’s been given a few updates fans will welcome.

First up is the CPU which is now a quad-core Intel Atom x5 Cherry Trail Z8500 which is reportedly clocking in at a max of 2.24GHz. This CPU should give users a comparable experience to that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 would even if it is slightly slower than the older Atom X7 Z8700.

The difference here is that the Transformer has a 10.1inch display which needs to be driven by the Intel HD graphics. This means that gaming is out of the question but if you intend to surf the web and edit your manuscript while waiting for a flight, it should get the job done.

The  USB Type-C is interesting because this the Transformer runs Windows 10 and is ready for Continuum so in future this could be the only screen you need.

According to ASUS the battery in the Transformer should last 12 hours. All we know about this number is that ASUS only browsed the web to get this result. We suspect that once you start watching a video or play some music while you work that number will drop significantly.

The combined weight of the tablet portion of the Transformer and the keyboard is 1.05kg which is so light we wonder whether the notebook comes with paperweights. The tablet is also super thin measuring 8.45mm on its own and together the 2-in1 is just 15.55mm thick.

The Transformer is expected to land in South Africa soon and pricing is yet to be determined.
