Can’t be in front of a TV? Here’s where to stream #Budget2016

At 2pm today, Minister of Finance, Pravin Gordhan will stand up to tell the nation how the annual budget will be split.

Many are calling this the most important budget speech in the new South Africa’s almost 22-year history. With many pressing issues such as an ailing currency, a stagnant economy and a drought that has seen the nation falling even further into debt, it’s no wonder that claim has been made.

Speculation is rife that a Value Added Tax (VAT) increase is on the cards. It is also expected that Gordhan will address increased inflation and a potential sovereign credit downgrade.

For those curious about what the minister will be talking about but can’t be near a TV at 2pm, never fear – both Parliament TV and eNCA will each have a stream up so that you can watch online from your phone, tablet or laptop:

Gordhan was appointed by President Jacob Zuma last year after a tumultuous week which saw the controversial firing of Nhlanhla Nene and the hiring of relative unknown David van Rooyen as his successor. Gordhan was re-appointed as Minister of Finance three days later.

What are you expecting from the minister’s speech this afternoon? Let us know in the comments below.
