Maker collaborative and friends of the site over Geekulcha have been chosen to lead the Maker Library Network in Gauteng. This is a project by the British Council to connect makers around the world.
Geekulcha is well known for hosting hackathons, tech challenges and makerspaces around the country. Most recently they held a Maker Day at eKasiLabs Soweto. The “Make a Hologram” workshop focused on showing people how to create one of the cool projects (which uses similar tech to this project we recently wrote about).
Geekulcha now joins other maker groups from the United Kingdom and Nigeria to continue running events in the country.
If you want to attend any of these events, makers.htxt will continually be updated with both event reminders beforehand and reports afterwards. If you have any inclination towards creating, even if you may not have the skills, we highly suggest you attend. Its a lot of fun and we guarantee you’ll learn something new and interesting.
