LEGO goes old school with a ball and labyrinth game

Thanks to LEGO Ideas, a platform in which fans can create sets which may be turned into official products, the next set you pick up may be a twist on the classic ball and labyrinth game.

Originally submitted by fan Jason Allemann, the game is, of course, made entirely of LEGO. Under the maze a base made of plastic gears allows a player to tip and tilt the platform and move the ball along the maze.

Emphasising what makes the concept great, you are able to swap around the mazes when you get bored or have mastered the game. In the box you’ll get a “Classic” maze modeled after the original wooden game, as well as a board modeled after a medieval one. Then, when you master those two, you can build your own with any LEGO you have lying around.

The official design from the original Idea has changed very little, and still features the wonderful little addition of a travel lock to keep everything tidy when moving it around, as well as a box in which to keep the spare balls.

You’ll pay $69.99 (R1 089) for the 769-piece kit (set number 21305) when it goes on sale in the US on April 1st.

Local pricing will, most likely, be slightly more than that number, and we’re already saving up to get ours.
