Find a phone and win it in Huawei’s SA-wide Easter Hunt

Huawei has announced that it will be giving away 25 smartphones, tablets and accessories this Easter, but it will require a bit of effort on your part.

From the 15th to the 20th of March, Huawei will be holding a national treasure hunt where it will hide 25 of what the firm will only describe as “their most loved devices” at secret locations.

“But how will you find these prizes?” we hear you proclaim in rage through the internet.

Well it’s actually quite simple: all you need to do is follow the Huawei Instagram account. A clue will be posted once every hour between 9am and 5pm, which should lead you to the prize.

Once you find the prize, whether it be a smartphone or a Wifi dongle, it’s yours to keep. You don’t even have to let Huawei know you found it, though we’ll ask that you do, because you’re a nice person.

Now, the obvious problem here is that most of us will be at work during those hours and we aren’t sure our bosses will be too happy with us if we sprint out of the office every hour.

The clever folks at Huawei are a step ahead of us there, and will be holding a physical Easter treasure hunt on a weekend, the 19th and 20th of March, in the following cities:

  • Johannesburg
  • Pretoria
  • Cape Town
  • Port Elizabeth
  • Knysna
  • Durban
  • Plettenburg Bay

Where will these hunts take place? You will have to check the Huawei Instagram account on those days.

So what is up for grabs? We don’t know and neither will you until the clues are announced or indeed, the prizes are found.

We also aren’t sure how Huawei plans to deal with the rain we’re experiencing here in Jozi and down in Durban, but we’re sure they’ve thought that through (read: the prizes will more than likely be in-doors on rainy days. That’s just us guessing though).

Good luck folks, and may the odds be ever in your favour.
