Pirated Blu-ray/HD Star Wars: The Force Awakens rips hit torrent sites

If you start seeing high quality images, gifs and videos of previously unseen parts of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, you have pirates to thank for that.

With the film’s Blu-ray and DVD releases of the film set to hit shelves at the beginning of April (on the 22nd locally), it seems some unscrupulous individuals in the supply chain may have leaked it online.

While we’d like to say we’re surprised, we’re really not. When cam versions of the movie leaked, that was a real surprise. Disney was so hell bent on keeping the movie safe that our local premiere night had uniformed police officers patrolling the cinema.

Now that the movie is on its way to retail outlets, there are just too many security holes it can fall through and that’s exactly what happened.

At the moment, there’s a few versions of the film floating around, and all are extremely popular. The most shared version at the moment is a Blu-ray rip weighing in at 3.48 GB with more than 22 000 seeders. The hundreds of commentary are stating that their free copy is of sufficient quality.

As with every story we write about pirating, we’re not going to give you direct links to the rips or instruct you on how to get it. This isn’t a challenge, it’s a reminder that pirating is illegal. No matter how much you want to feel like a lawless Han Solo, remember that there’s no screenings of Star Wars in jail, and you’ll probably miss Episode VIII if you’re locked up.
