Google mobile now lets you plan a holiday with just one search

Taking a holiday is awesome. Planning a holiday? Not so much.

Fortunately, for those who hate organising their vacation, Google  has launched a search function for mobile that’ll help you easily plan a getaway, in one search, just in time for the upcoming Easter holidays.

Google Destinations helps find useful information for any country, city or state/province that you’d like to visit, without one having to conduct multiple searches simultaneously in different tabs.

The new feature is an answer to a 50% increase in travel-related questions on mobile phones that Google saw last year, according to the company’s data.

By simply typing in the name of where you’d like to get information on, along with the word “destination” or “vacation” in the search bar, Google will pull up a list of the best attractions and places, available flights and hotel prices in real time, weather conditions, the best time of year to visit, where it is on Google Maps and top restaurants, instantly.

Google Destinations also search according to flight and hotel preferences, dates, pricing, number of stops, hotel class, and number of travellers who’ll be going on the trip.

You can look up activities available and most popular at that specific destination that you’d be interested in taking part in such as camping, shopping, going on safari or to the beach and more.

If you know exactly what activity you’re aiming for, you can search Google Destinations results by entering the name of a destination and the activity, e.g “New Zealand hiking”.

The feature also suggests itineraries based on historic visits by other travelers to those places.

To find out when travel rates and fares are lowest, you can make use of the “Flexible dates” filter, which will show you the best month to go in, at a specific or multiple destinations.

Go ahead and try Google Destinations out the next time you’re planning a holiday.
