Huawei P9 to possibly launch in April

It seems like we have an official date for the Huawei P9 launch, as the company sent out invitations to a 6th April event in London.

This follows the release pattern established last year as the P8 launch was around the same time in 2015, and also in London.

Another tell-tale factor that the invitation is centred around the P9, is the fact that hashtag for the event is #OO, made to resemble the double camera lens that has been rumoured for some time.

We know that P9 will have a double camera setup, as a report on VentureBeat has revealed details of what we expect to be Huawei’s next flagship.

Apparently the camera(s) will house a 12MP sensor and a lens which has been created by Leica.

According to PhoneArena, “The Huawei P9 Lite will feature a 5-inch screen and will be equipped with the Snapdragon 650 SoC, 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. The Huawei P9 will offer a 5.2-inch display with the Kirin 950 SoC under the hood. 3GB of RAM and 32GB ROM will be inside.”

If history is anything to go by, the device will be announced in London, made available a couple of weeks later, and it will eventually be made for sale in South Africa by late May or around there.
