John McAfee supports Apple, says FBI is enforcing slavery

Yes, John McAfee is once again giving his voice to the Apple versus FBI debate and has citied a rather, let’s call it strange, reason for Apple not to comply with the FBI’s demands.

Just over a week ago, McAfee had said that the FBI should hand the iPhone over to him because his team of hackers would be able to crack the iPhone.

Now, in a report on Business Insider, McAfee claims that by the FBI issuing a legal court order to Apple to get it to create a back door into an iPhone, it is violating the 13th amendment.

What is the 13th amendment you may ask. Well, its a law that effectively brought an end to slavery and involuntary servitude.

According to McAfee’s legal team the the 13th amendment is: “used in reference to any type of slavery, peonage, or compulsory labor. Two essential elements of involuntary servitude are involuntariness, which is compulsion to act against one’s will, and servitude, which is some form of labor for another.”

As McAfee himself reportedly puts it, “Apple and its employees do not willingly want to do the work. Thus, the government is demanding involuntary servitude of Apple and its employees in regard to doing this specific work.”

Now, we can see how McAfee reached this conclusion, but of course he isn’t taking into account that this is a legal case where a court order was issued to Apple.

While we’re sure Apple has a crack team of legal experts working on the matter we’re sure the words and guidance of John will be taken with a truckload of salt seriously.

Apple and the FBI will appear before Congress to make their respective cases heard today.

It’s at this point we’d like to remind John that if he was unable to crack the iPhone, he promised he would eat his shoe. You have two weeks left Mr. McAfee, and we’re counting every minute.
