A modder is trying to make Aliens: Colonial Marines “how it should have been”

Like your parents catching you in the liqueur cabinet, we’re not angry with Aliens: Colonial Marines, we’re just disappointed.

A victim of hype, false marketing and sketchy development, the game just wasn’t what anyone expected… or wanted. Now modder TemplarGFX is going to fix that.

With a mod titled “TemplarGFX’s ACM Overhaul” on Mod DB, the exact changes planned for the game are listed in extreme detail. The “summary” of the changes is nothing but that and it’s slated to reprogram and rebalance most of the game to make it the best possible experience.

Near the top of the laundry list is changes to the Aliens themselves, making them faster, stronger and (most importantly) smarter.

Of course that’s only scratching the surface. The Colonial Marines themselves have a new lick of paint to assist in improving gameplay. Unfortunately for them, this means becoming squishier. Most of the humans in the game have been made weaker to ramp up the difficulty and authenticity of the game.

If you like what you’ve read and seen so far, check out the mod’s official page for the full rundown. if you actually want to try it out, downloading the mod is free but you’ll need the game on PC. It’s going for R159 currently on Steam.

If, instead, you’d prefer to play a great game in the Alien universe without any modding, give Alien: Isolation a look.
