You can buy LG’s G5 through Vodacom from tomorrow

LG has been making a big push in the mobile market this year, showing off its G5 flagship in Barcelona in February, together will all the snazzy accessories like the virtual reality headset and camera attachment.

The phone was officially launched in South Africa last week, but it will only be making its way to retail outlets tomorrow (15 April) – and Vodacom claims to be the first network to make the phone available. It was previously stated that it would only go on sale on 22 April.

You can pick up the G5 starting on a Smart S contract for R549 per month, and the network is also throwing in a free CAM Plus Module worth R1199 – for a limited time. The LG CAM Plus makes the phones camera just so much better, as it gives it physical buttons and a better lens by clipping it onto the battery slot.

According to LG, CAM Plus provides “physical buttons for power, shutter, record, zoom, LED indicator and comfortable grip. It also offers intuitive auto focus and exposure lock, features usually found on standalone digital cameras.”

By inserting it into the battery slot, it provides an additional battery capacity of 1 200mAh of battery power.

The G5 in Gold will also be exclusively available at Vodacom until 6th June, while the rest of the LG “friends” accessories – 360-degree Camera, 360-degree VR Headset and B&O Hifi Module – will be available in May.

At the official launch, LG revealed that the handset was targeted to land at R11,799, although prices across the different networks may vary depending on which package consumers choose.
