Dishonored 2 has a release date

Bethesda has revealed some news about the upcoming sequel to 2013’s surprise stealth/slash/steampunk hit, Dishonored.

Dishonored 2 will be released this year on Xbox One, PC and PlayStation4 on 11th November. Start sharpening those shivs…

Developed by Arkane Studios, Dishonored 2 was revealed at Bethesda’s first ever E3 keynote in Los Angeles last year. Players will be able to play as both a female and a male protagonist. They can either take on the role of a new female assassin, Empress Emily Kaldwin, or they can reprise the role of the hero from the first Dishonored, royal protector, Corvo Attano.

As was the case with the first Dishonored, players have the option of stealthily progressing through the game, or engaging enemies in a more upfront and ‘loud’ manner. Naturally, a blend of the wto approaches is also possible. Both protagonists will be armed with an assortment of weapons, gadgets and occult powers that constitute a gleefully vicious killbox.

The game’s plot details are pretty sparse at this stage, but we do know that the game’s action will be moving away from Dunwall – the city in which the first adventure took place – and moves to Karnaca, the city in which Corvo was born. From the footage and stills revealed so far, it looks like Karnaca has the same Steampunk veneer as Dunwall – if a little prettier.

In the same announcement, Bethesda revealed that the first gameplay footage of Dishonored 2 will be shown off at the publisher’s second E3 keynote in LA next month.

If you’re unaware of Dishonored 2’s existence, or you’d simply like a refresher on the game, check out the trailer from last year’s E3 expo below:
