This group will compete in a pitch showcase for the chance to be chosen as one of three startups to represent Africa at the international Innotribe Startup Challenge to be held at the annual Sibos banking and financial conference in Geneva in September.

The pitch showcase will be held on the 18th of May at the SWIFT African Regional Conference in Mauritius.

“For the second consecutive year, we are thrilled with the number and calibre of the African startups applying to our programme,” Fabian Vandenreydt, Global Head of Securities Markets, Innotribe and the SWIFT Institute at SWIFT, said in a statement.

“The Startup Challenge is an enriching experience for every company participating as they benefit from expert mentoring and get that much-needed exposure to financial institutions. We are excited to start this year’s journey and look forward to seeing the startups pitch their innovative products with determination in Mauritius,” he added.

The three startups who make it to the Innotribe Startup Challenge will have the opportunity to share the stage with fintech experts, providing insights on innovation happening on the ground in Africa to the financial industry at large. They will also receive a $10 000 (around R150 000) cash prize each.
