Blizzard games will be coming to your Facebook timeline soon

Your Facebook timeline probably hasn’t been starved of Blizzard games since the release of Overwatch a few weeks back, and now the developer has announced that it will soon be integrating Facebook into all of its games.

The new feature has been christened with the rather unimaginative title of “Go Live”, and is in the process of being added to games in the Blizzard stable according to a report from The Verge.

Once the feature is in place, players will be able to start streaming to Facebook Live and, by extension, their friends. Or, you know, that family member that just joined Facebook and thinks you spend enough time playing games as it is.

Executive vice president of corporate operations at Blizzard, Gio Hunt, was quoted saying, “It’s important to us to provide our players with features and services that make it easy and fun to share their experiences with each other.”

We say bravo to Hunt because here at the southern tip of Africa, streaming using the current Blizzard staple, Twitch, is terrible. Well, it is if you have a 2Mbps line like I do, anyway.

Perhaps the walls of servers that Facebook owns would go a long way to fixing those issues… or it won’t and the fact that I can’t watch the StarCraft II World Championship Series will now be squarely in my face, rather than hidden away on Twitch.

Blizzard has also reportedly announced that PC gamers will soon be able to login to its games using a Facebook login as well.

Regarding that, we aren’t too sure we want Facebook to know how much time we spend playing Diablo, so that’s an option that we won’t be using any time soon.

Blizzard’s integration with Facebook is expected to roll out soon, but no exact date has been specified.
