Is The Witcher 3’s Gwent getting its own game?

We quite like a game of Hearthstone, and once we get accepted into the Elder Scrolls: Legends beta we’re sure we’ll love that as well.

But what about Gwent, the mini-game from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt? Would a standalone game satisfy our digital card collecting game addiction?

Well, according to a report on Game Informer we might not have to imagine a world where Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is a reality, because a trademark filing points to a standalone game possibly… maybe… being in the works.

Now, this could just be CD Projekt Red attempting to protect its intellectual property. However, the fact that “Gwent” was already trademarked and “Gwent The Witcher Card Game” is a new trademark, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that a standalone game is in the works.

At the same time the trademark was filed, a logo was trademarked as well. Both of these were filed on June 6th with the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

So tricksy CD Projekt Red is technically taking one final stab at The Witcher series.

That’s fine with us, we quite enjoyed Gwent, but what we really want to see is there new project Cyberpunk 2077 which is incidentally on our list of things that we really want to, but probably won’t see at E3 next week.

What say you though, do you have space in your life for another collector card game? Slam your thoughts in the comments below.
