NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 prices appear on SA tech sites

Listen up PC gamers, your wallet and strength of will is about to be tested because we’ve spotted the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 for sale on the Evetech website.

While the GTX 1080 is the new high-end PC builder’s baby, its current retail price of R15 999 for the Founders Edition is enough to make you wince just a little bit.

The lower spec’d GTX 1070 then was a more viable option for the PC builders on a budget, especially since it beat out the Titan X in most of the benchmarks Ars Technica put it through.

Technically speaking the GTX 1070 has 1920 CUDA Cores, 8GB of GDDR5 memory operating at a speed of 8GHz being pushed through the card at a peak of 256GB/s. The speed of the card is a crazy 1506MHz (the GTX 1080’s is 1607MHz) and the card only draws about 150W under typical conditions.

Evetech has a bevy of GTX 1070s on display on its website including the MSI GeForce AERO at R8 499, the MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition at R9 999 (the Founders Edition for both the 1080 and 1070 are purposefully more expensive on instruction from NVIDIA) and a water cooled MSI GeForce GTX 1070 SEA HAWK X is sitting at R10 499 but it does have a radiator and cooling fan configuration out of the box.

Rebeltech pricing starts with the ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition at R9 099. The ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 ROG Strix OC Edition with triple-cooling fan array is a rather pricey R9 999. For those that must have three fans, the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming card is a much cheaper R8 999.

Finally, Wootware has the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition listed for R9 799 and the aforementioned G1 Gaming iteration for R9 499.

Unrelated, we have a few older graphics cards on sale if anybody is interested in building a budget PC gaming rig. J/k.
