Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3 and Pro 3 are coming to South Africa

MIA, Xiaomi distributor in South Africa, has confirmed that the Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Pro 3 will be available locally.

The Chinese manufacturer has a habit of making low cost smartphones with great specs and nothing seems to have changed.

On the inside is a Snapdragon 650 chip-set with a hexacore CPU chugging along at 1.8GHz. Graphical duties are taken care of by an Adreno 510 processor, and 2GB of LPDDR3 memory rounds everything off.

Toward the back of the handset is a 16MP snapper paired with a 5MP sensor in front. The rear shooter features a two-tone flash, as well as a sensor which detects the room’s colour temperature.

Redmi gets a nod of approval from us for its connectivity. The latest 802.11ac standard is supported so expect super fast Wifi. When you aren’t on Wifi though there is support for all the LTE bands in SA.

What’s more is that the the Redmi Note 3 supports up to two 4G SIM cards. The caveat with that is that if you want expandable storage you will have to sacrifice one SIM tray.

Finally, powering everything is a 4 000mAh battery. That is as big as we saw in the Huawei Mate 8 so we’re holding thumbs for a nice long battery life.

Unfortunately for us pricing is yet to be confirmed but we can expect prices soon. Once we have that info in our hands we will update you, of course.
