South Africans have taken to Twitter to express their disapproval of the sentence handed to Oscar Pistorius by Judge Thokozile Masipa, resurrecting the hashtag #MasipaMustFall.
Masipa sentenced Pistorius to six years in prison this morning, nine years less than the minimum sentence for murder in South Africa.
Masipa said a long term in prison for Pistorius would not serve justice and that the mitigating factors of the case outweighed the aggravating factors. She found there is a case for special circumstances with regards to the sentence.
South Africans weren’t slow in making their objections to the sentence known on Twitter.
Disgusting!!! Masipa you have done our justice system an injustice! #MasipaMustFall remove her from the bench!!! https://t.co/BjJUEHjDVn

The state and the defence are expected to appeal the sentence.
